About the Ithaca Youth Bureau

The Ithaca Youth Bureau (including Cass Park) offers participants from all backgrounds, walks of life, identities, abilities and lived experiences a broad range of recreation and youth development services, supports, and opportunities to enable them to thrive.

The Ithaca Youth Bureau (IYB), a public multi-service agency established 1948, provides a broad variety of recreation and youth development programs to promote the health, happiness, and well-being of all youth and families in the greater Ithaca area. We serve more than 7,500 youth annually, aged 0-20 years, through a wide array of programs including:
  • Sports leagues, lessons and clinics
  • Martial arts
  • Swimming pool, sport courts, and ice/skate rink
  • Academic support
  • After school programs
  • Job and skill training and subsidized employment for youth
  • Expressive arts programs
  • Summer camps
  • Inclusive recreation support services
  • Children's library and activities for toddlers and their grown up
  • Special events
  • Long-term mentoring
  • Outdoor adventure programing
  • Civic engagement opportunities

In addition to recreation and after school initiatives that serve the general youth population, our youth development programs do strategic outreach to marginalized and under-served youth. Learn more about our programs.

We strive to offer experiential learning and hands-on activities that are equitable and welcoming. It is important that our programs promote skill development, foster positive relationships, and build a sense of community and belonging.
